Favorite Pens

Just wanted to plug the gel pens I find indispensible (yet disposable) when writing.

Just wanted to plug the gel pens I find indispensible (yet disposable) when writing. The brand is Zebra and their line of Sarasa pens are a pleasure to write with. Ink flows very smoothly with little pressure and the 10 packs come with a nice variety of colors, which makes marking up what you wrote easier.

A Blog Rises

This is the first public post of mine on WordPress.

This is the first public post of mine on WordPress. (Up till now, the blog has been private while I move in.) I’ve taken a quick look at some other writer’s blogs and linked to a few that I liked, such as How Not to Write and Words and Wardances. They all have better names for their blogs than my eponymous one. It’ll have to do for now.

My frustration with writing is procrastination. The feeling is similar to pushing a shopping cart with a bad wheel, so it veers off and I don’t end up where I want to go. When I’m not writing, I want to write. When I have time to write, I find something else to do.

Well, at least I’ve written a blog post.

Being Human

Flipping channels last night I had come across bits of a new show called Being Human on BBC America.

Flipping channels last night I had come across bits of a new show called Being Human on BBC America. The premise may seem like the set up of a joke: A vampire, a werewolf and a ghost share a flat … But actually I found it to be a charming story. Three damned individuals trying to hold onto their humanity. I think this was the second episode and I will try to catch the pilot and the third episode this week.

Anyone else watch this show?

Thank you Steve of Fountain Books

Easily the best vampire and horror novel I can recall reading.

I recently finished Let the Right One In, by John Lindqvist, recommended by Steve of Fountain Books. Easily the best vampire and horror novel I can recall reading. The story gripped me up to the final pages. Though it’s been adapted for the screen by the author, I do not wish to see the movie version. The gruesome scenes were vivid enough on the page.

Have you read it? What are your thoughts?

First Impressions of WordPress

It’s very easy to get started with the WordPress blogging platform. I can’t compare it to Blogger or others as I’ve not tried those yet. I’ll be sure to comment later when I do.

One recommendation to WordPress developers: on the initial sign-up screen where a username is to be provided, please have the field run a check to see if the username is already being used by another. You don’t find out until you’ve submitted the form. Just a quibble.

Once you’re signed up, it’s very inuitive, at least for me, to add, edit and remove posts and the other basic tools of blogging. And choosing among different templates/designs is easy. I’ve not explored customizing them or creating your own from scratch.
